FSIN and the provincial government believe it will be a win-win situation for both parties with the launching of the new online gaming and sports betting site in Saskatchewan.

SIGA will be the operators of the site and will be the exclusive operators in the province for the next five years.

FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron is happy that the provincial government and FSIN will be able to work together on this venture. “This journey of own source revenue for the 74 First Nations in the province of Saskatchewan, this is reconciliation at it’s finest when you have true partnership.” Cameron added “Despite the challenging times during the COVID pandemic we still saw and realized the importance to get together and get positive results.”

SIGA Minister Jim Reiter noted the successful working relationship that FSIN and the provincial government have had in the past with the casinos in Saskatchewan and is confident that this working relationship will carry over into the new online gaming and sports betting app.

The revenue generated from the gaming site and app will be split 50/50 between the First Nations and the residents of Saskatchewan as Reiter explains. “Half of the profits of this venture will be distributed by the First Nations trust and economic development, social development, justice , health, education, culture, recreation and other First Nation initiatives. The other half will flow to the provincial government in support of priority areas that benefit all Saskatchewan residents in health, education and infrastructure.”

The online gaming site and app is expected to be operational in Saskatchewan sometime in 2022.
