Melfort Mustangs player Dylan Ashe is killed in accident

The SJHL’s Melfort Mustangs and the Saskatchewan hockey community is mourning the loss of Dylan Ashe.

The 18-year-old was killed in an accident Saturday night in northeastern Saskatchewan when the vehicle he was driving left the road and rolled over on Highway 35, about 17 kilometers northeast of White Fox.

The Warman native joined the Mustangs for his rookie season in Melfort as a 17-year-old. He scored two goals and four assists in 46 games.

Before that, he played for the Tisdale Trojans in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league where he helped the team to a bronze medal at the 2019 Telus Cup national championship in a contest where he was named the player of the game.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Ashe’s aunt to help with funeral costs
