Powell staying in Riderville; RB signs new one-year deal

The Riders will have their 2019 rushing leader back in 2021.

The green-and-white have signed William Powell to a one-year contract extension.

Powell joined the Riders in 2019 after coming over from Ottawa as a free-agent and was one of the major reasons as to why the team finished first in the Western Conference with a 13-5 record as he ran for 1,093 yards (2nd best in CFL), and 12 touchdowns (tied for first) to go along with 296 yards receiving with two touchdowns in 18 games.

The 32-year old has split his CFL career between Ottawa and Saskatchewan.  In that time, he has ran for almost 4,000 yards and has had three 1,000 yard seasons.  He was a member of the 2016 Ottawa team that won the Grey Cup.
