While we wait for news on Manny Arceneaux or Solomon Elimimian potentially getting their first start in Rider green, we know of one change for Monday’s game. Terran Vaughn will start at Right Tackle in place of Thaddeus Coleman.
Coach Craig Dickenson says it’s not because Coleman played poorly versus Ottawa, it’s something more.
“We gotta constantly develop this team. (Coleman) was our weakest tackle—Cofield graded out higher—not that Thaddeus had a bad game, he didn’t. The plan was to get Vaughn some reps all along, so it just happened to be Thaddeus.”
Dickenson says that he wants to know who their offensive line is going into the bye week (after the Calgary game July 6).
This will be Vaughn’s first start since Week 8 of 2018. While he’s happy to be starting again, he says it doesn’t change much for him.
“Yesterday, last week, next week, I’m going to prepare the same way every day,” says Vaughn. “Just focus on my job, focus on what I need to do with my reads so that I can been 100% out there.”
This will be the third different combination of offensive linemen the Riders have used this season. They used just five combinations in the 2018 regular season.
