NDP call on SaskParty government to enhance Agristability farm program

Saskatchewan NDP agriculture critic Trent Wotherspoon is calling on the SaskParty government to sign on to fix the Agristability support program.

Wotherspoon says Saskatchewan agriculture groups support the proposed federal enhancements and fixing agristability is important to producers, especially for the hard-hit livestock industry.

He wants the SaskParty government to step up and support the changes which would increase Agristability payment levels to 80 percent and remove the reference margin.

Agriculture minister David Marit says cost is a key concern.

A decision is expected soon.
