Canola farmers in Saskatchewan are anticipating increased crop sales from Ottawa’s new clean fuel proposals.

The federal proposals would see the use of canola oil as an extender in diesel rise from two percent to 11 percent by 2030.

Canola council spokesperson Brian Innes says the proposals would lead to higher sales.

He says some areas already have high standards like the state of Minnesota, with a 20 percent requirement in the summer for diesel and even higher in California.

The proposals are under consideration for two and a half months with a final decision expected later in the year.
