It will be at least one more game before Manny Arceneaux or Solomon Elimimian makes his Riders debut.
The Riders released their depth chart for Monday’s game versus the Argos. Neither of the former BC Lions was on it. The means Saturday’s game against Calgary will be the next chance for their debut.
“Not quite ready,” says Head Coach Craig Dickenson of the pair. “It was close. We’d like them, but it was just late in the week and we felt like we were going to go with the 45 we got.”
Arceneaux continues to recover from a knee injury suffered last season. Elimimian is returning from a calf injury that he suffered in the off-season.
The Argos come to Regina off a 50-point home loss to the Ticats in Week 2. Dickenson has
“We talked to the guys all week about focusing on ourselves, but also being aware that this is a wounded team coming in. And they’re going to come out fighting, they’re going to come out hard. Our guys know that they’re going to see a different team than what they saw on TV a week ago.”
Dickenson is effusive with his praise for the Argos.
“They’ve got Derel Walker–who’s the highest-paid player and in many people’s opinion the best receiver in the league. SJ Green’s next to him, Armanti Edwards…those are good football players. (Sean) McEwen, I think, is the best centre in the league. And then you look at their defence. They’ve got (Micah) Awe in the middle, and he’s a good football player. They’ve got Ian Wild, who I coached in Winnipeg back in ’13. He’s a heckuva player. And then their front was the ‘who’s who’ in free agency this past year.”
The Riders will use a third different offensive line combination in this game. Terran Vaughn takes over at Right Tackle from Thad Coleman. And one other change for Monday’s game has Alexandre Gagne in as the starting fullback. Last week’s starter, Albert Awachie, is out with a wrist injury.
Kickoff is 5:00 pm on Monday. Join us on the Cooperators Roughrider Radio Network for the pre-game show beginning at 2:00 pm.
