A 50-year-old woman on remand was pronounced dead at Pine Grove Correctional Centre in Prince Albert.

The woman was found at approximately 7:30 pm Thursday night after being found unresponsive in her cell.

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing will be conducting an internal investigation and say they will work with the Prince Albert Police Service and the Coroners Service as they complete their investigations.

There is no foul play suspected at this time, and the death is not related to COVID-19.
