Park Street bike lane project now complete

A $1.5 million dollar project in the city’s east end has come to an end.

The Park Street Rehabilitation and Bike Lane project between Douglas Avenue and Broadway Avenue is one that helps the city make progress on its Transportation Master Plan goal of creating a comprehensive bike network.

The project saw the reconfiguration of the northbound lanes on Park Street between Douglas Avenue and 17th Avenue East to separate cyclists from vehicles. Going northbound, Park Street now has one driving lane, one parking lane and one bi-directional bike lane. The southbound lanes remain the same.

Park Street remains a transit route and buses continue to have a safe boarding option for passengers that need an elevated curb to easily get on or off the bus with the installation of Transit Access Platforms. Cyclists are required to yield to pedestrians.
