The Riders have added to their defense by subtracting from one of their rivals.

The Riders announced the signing of linebacker Darnell Sankey. No terms of the deal were announced.

Sankey made his CFL debut in 2021. The 27 year old led the league in tackles–including two separate 12-tackle games. He added a sack and a forced fumble. Voters chose Sankey as a West Division All Star for the season.

The California native joins a linebacking corps including Larry Dean and Micah Teitz.
