Riders release three

The Riders have made their first set of cuts following Friday’s 36 point loss in Calgary.

Three players were let go Sunday morning including receiver Brock McCoin.  He had a solid first half before suffering what is believed to be a broken wrist.

The other two let go were defensive back Davon Jernigan and offensive lineman Danny Sprukulis.

The team also announced kick returner Christion Jones has been activated from the injured list and that they have signed 24 year old receiver Carlos Henderson from Louisiana Tech.  He was taken by Denver in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL draft after a career that saw him catch 147 passes with 28 of those receptions being for touchdowns.

The team got back on the practice field in Saskatoon Sunday after Friday’s loss in Calgary.

They will workout at Griffiths Stadium Monday and Tuesday before packing up and heading back to Mosaic Stadium as they will finish off the pre-season Thursday night with a game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Kickoff is 7 o’clock with our pre-game show starting at 4 on 620 CKRM

Meanwhile, the Toronto Argonauts have released former U of R Rams quarterback Noah Picton.  He threw one pass in a pre-season game last week against Montreal.

Picton had signed a three-year deal with the team in the off-season after finishing off his University career as the all-time passing yardage leader in USports Football history.
