About 1.9 million unstamped cigarettes, worth about $1.1 million on the illicit market, were seized recently by members of the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol.
On the evening of Aug 31, Ministry of Policing’s PPS branch stopped a commercial vehicle east of Indian Head for an inspection.
The trailer had six pallets of unstamped cigarettes.
The driver was taken into custody and the cigarettes and vehicle and trailer were seized. The province said Indian Head RCMP have taken carriage of the file in consultation with the SHP and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance.
