The orange scooters set up across the Queen City have racked up over 130,000 kilometres.

The announcement from the company Neuron, responsible for the orange scooters, comes as the city’s shared e-scooter program passed the two-month mark.

Ankush Karwal, the head of market for Canada at Neuron Mobility, said that they have seen overwhelmingly positive feedback from riders about the service.

“Many people are making trips they wouldn’t otherwise have made, and it is great to see e-scooters benefit local businesses and the community as a whole,” he said. “They are a great way for locals as well as tourists to travel in a safe, convenient and fun way, and we are already being told they are reducing short car journeys and are having a positive impact on the city.”

Neuron said Downtown, Wascana Park, and the Warehouse District are the most popular locations where e-scooter riders start and end their troops.

Mayor Sandra Masters said the scooters have positively impacted the Queen City.

“Since the successful launch of Regina’s shared e-scooter program a little over two months ago, residents and visitors have embraced this convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transit,” she said. “We are already seeing folks use shared e-scooter services to explore our city and commute to work while keeping their car at home, demonstrating how micro-mobility can positively impact our communities.”

Neuron said they also found that the average trip is three kilometres and takes 17.5 minutes, suggesting that rental e-scooters are being used for short trips around the city.
