Conexus Credit union closing nine branches this October

Conexus Credit Union announced Monday morning that nine branches will be closing across Saskatchewan October 2nd.

Branches being shut down are Chamberlain, Cupar, Drake, Middle Lake, Mossbank, Spy Hill, Young and Regina’s 5th Avenue and Wallace branches.

In a news release, Conexus said on May 31st they began advising members in those locations of the closure.

“Decisions on branch closures are among the most difficult for us as a cooperative.” said Eric Dillon, Conexus’ Chief Executive Officer in a news release. “While respecting our past, we must build a future that allows us to best serve our members by offering flexibility in our delivery of service and that aligns with our members’ ever-changing needs and expectations.”

Dillon said that about 95 percent of transactions in those locations are done outside the confines of their buildings.

“Banking is no longer a place you go but a thing you do, and our members we’re finding are relying much more frequently on mobile professionals and mobile technology to do their banking, and Conexus has been at the forefront of evolution in both those spaces,” Dillon said.

All members affected by the closures will be personally contacted, their transactions will be reviewed and then a recommendation will be made on how to best move forward.
