CUPE 882 members have declined the City of Prince Albert’s most recent offer, setting the stage for a potential strike commencing today!

The union, representing city workers, issued a press statement indicating that they had presented a proposal to the city.

According to CUPE national representative Mira Lewis, “We put forward a reasonable offer which we believed would be a good starting point for re-opening discussions.” Nevertheless, on Sunday afternoon, the employer rejected the union’s latest proposal and maintained their unwillingness to engage in negotiations.

Consequently, union workers are preparing to picket on September 11, marking the first-ever strike in the union’s 70-year history.

Employees have been engaged in various stages of work-to-rule actions since August 10, including actions such as refusing to provide training and disregarding dress code policies.
