The provincial government has agreed with the latest recommendation of the rate review panel with a lowering of SaskEnergy bills for the coming fall and winter.

Effective October 1, a rate adjustment from $4.20 to $3.20 a gigajoule will take place, alongside a five per cent delivery service rate hike.

The moves mean a decrease on power bills of about $6.52 per month for the average residential customer.

SaskEnergy’ president and CEO Mark Guillet said this rate adjustment allows them to provide lower bills their customers while also addressing inflationary pressures such as rising fuel and operating expenses.

“We have a responsibility to provide affordable service to our customers while also investing in the maintenance and growth of our system,” Guillet said in the release.
