Major farm groups call for end to border blockades in Canada

Eight major farm groups in Canada have called on governments to end the border blockades and restore the flow of goods and animals across the U.S. border.

The groups include the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, Canadian Pork Council, and the Canadian Federation of Agriculture.

Canadian Federation of Agriculture second vice president, Todd Lewis of Gray, says the prolonged disruptions at Coutts Alberta and Emerson Manitoba are affecting shipments of food, livestock and farm inputs.

Lewis says the weekend protest at Regway, south of Regina at the U.S. border was a good guide because there was no major disruption to traffic flow.
