Last Mountain Distillery is celebrating its annual Caesar Fest by breaking a Guinness World Record.

This is the fifth year the Lumsden distillery has held the festival, and this time they are aiming to break the World Record of making the World’s Largest Caesar drink.

The current World Record stands at 673 litres set in Ontario last fall. Last Mountain Distillery’s Meredith Schmidt said they will be using their dill pickle vodka to do so.

“I thought we can do better than that,” she said. “We’ve got better vodka, a Caesar is a more Saskatchewan drink, we should hold the record and not them.”

The process started when the distillery submitted an application for the attempt a few weeks ago. They plan to document the entire event, and once that’s complete they’ll submit it and “see what happens”.

Also happening at today’s festival will be a number of activities and games.

“We are going to start doing little Caesar tours where people can see how our dill pickle vodka is made and then bottle their own 175 of the Caesar to take home with them.”

Everything gets underway at 11:00 a.m. today.
