Howe opened the scoring on the powerplay with his sixth goal of the year.

Red Deer’s Samuel Drancak tied the game with his first goal of the year.

In the third period, the Rebels took the lead with a pair of goals in a 35 second span. Mats Lindgren scored with Drancak adding his second goal.

For the second straight game, the Pats would launch a third period comeback, beginning as Whitehead scored his 4th goal of the year.

With seven minutes remaining, Howe got his second goal of the game, this time short-handed to even the score at 3-3.

Overtime settled nothing, with the two teams decided the game in a shootout. In the first three shooters, each team had one player scored, Red Deer’s Kai Uchacz and Regina’s Borya Valis.

Whitehead would break the tie in the fourth round.

Howe felt it was a real team win on Friday night.

“Started out in the first buzzing, I thought we kind of let up in the second there, but pushed back in the third and got us back in the game.”

Assistant Coach Ken Schneider felt his team displayed resiliency with the comeback win tonight and noted Jaxsin Vaughan predicted the Pats would prevail.

“He (Vaughan) said to me, Kenny we’re not losing this game tonight.”

Schneider believes it’s a sign the players are buying into the attitude the team wants to display.

He adds the Pats positive results have started at practice.

“Brad (Herauf) demands a lot from those guys,” Schneider. “Our practices are not easy. “

The Pats Assistant Coach noted the team has bonded inside of the locker room and the evidence has been their recent wins.

Regina will try and complete to sweep their three-game homestand against Alberta teams on Saturday night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Brandt Centre.
