Suspect responsible for two schools being put in secure-the-building mode in custody

A pair of Regina schools were played in secure-the-building mode on Thursday afternoon due to a firearms incident.

At 1:15 p.m., police were notified of a person with a firearm near Balfour. It is believed that the person revealed a firearm to a student and left.

Later, the Glen Elm Community School was placed under secure-the-building mode due to a police operation in the area of the 1500 block of Bond Street related to the Balfour incident.

Police say they have the suspect in custody, and both schools are not out of secure-the-building mode.
