First off, yes. Saskatchewan is home to an oatmeal eating contest! It’s all part of the Yorkton Exhibition Grain Millers Showdown in Yorkton this week.

“We have teams of four and it’s a relay race to see who can get through their oatmeal first,” smiled Barb Woytas of the Yorkton Exhibition.

She says a number of local businesses participate in the competition and all the oatmeal is cooked by members of the Grain Millers in Yorkton. Many other events will also take place during the show down including heavy horse pulls, professional bull riding Friday and Saturday nights, and one of that last remaining commercial forage and pedigree seed shows.

“We’re one of the premier agricultural events in the province (and) we’re very proud of this event,” concluded Woytas.
