Riders Dean, Alford, Korsak named Divisional All-Stars

The Canadian Football League announced the Divisional All-Stars on Wednesday.

Three members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders were selected as Western Divisional All-Stars, linebacker Larry Dean, punter Adam Korsak, and returner Mario Alford.

This will be the fourth time Dean has been selected as a CFL Divisional All-Star. For the second straight season, the linebacker started in every game, recording 104 defensive tackles, marking the second straight season he surpassed 100+ tackles. He added two sacks, two interceptions, four pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, and one tackle for a loss. His 114 total defensive plays ranks first on the Club and fifth in the CFL. Dean was named the Roughriders nominee for both Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

Alford received his first Divisional All-Star Award. The 31-year-old had 88 punts for 978 yards including one 107-yard touchdown return in Week 16 and two punt return touchdowns in a single game in Week 6. He had three punt returns for touchdowns in 2023, tying a club record set by Willis Jacox (1991), Curtis Mayfield (1999) and Corey Holmes (2005).

In his rookie season, Korsak recorded 117 punts (tied for 2nd) for 5,609 yards (1st) with a 47.9 average (1st). He added six singles (tied for 2nd) and had nine punts downed inside the 10 (tied for 2nd). He Saskatchewan’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Special Teams Player.

The League All-Stars will be announced next week.
