It was a back and forth game at the Brandt Centre yesterday that ended in a 4-3 win for Swift Current Broncos over the Regina Pats.
Regina was trailing 3-2 heading into the third period, Stanislav Svozil scored to tie the game at 3-3, but Josh Davies would answer back for the Broncos to get the victory on the road.
Goalie Coach Rob Muntain says a deciding factor in the game was in front of the crease. “There’s very two important areas on the ice you got to win and that’s in front of our net and in front of their net, and no matter how well you do on the rest of the ice surface you can win every single battle on the rest of the surface but if you don’t win those two areas, you’re not going to win a game and that was our fault tonight.”
Connor Bedard scored his 31st goal of the season for the Pats in the loss, Tanner Howe also scored for the Pats in the loss.
One of the bright spots for the loss for Regina according to Zane Rowan was the play of the bottom two lines for the Pats. “Our coaches have faith in us to do the job, we just have to keep rolling throughout the season and keep this way.”
The win extended the Broncos gap between the Pats to six points. The Broncos are currently 7th in the Eastern Conference, the Pats are 11th, five points back of Calgary of the final playoff spot.
The Pats are back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Brandt Centre, you can catch the game on 620 CKRM beginning with the pregame show at 6:35.
