Wednesday February 15th is Canada’s Ag Day.

One of the events going on is an Ag Awareness Summit in Saskatoon.

At the summit, a farmer from east of Regina was given the Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Champion Award.

The award recognizes a person who has work to build public trust in farming and food in Saskatchewan and beyond.

The Champion Award was presented to Alanna Koch.

Koch has a lengthy resume, Deputy Minister to the Premier, the provincial Deputy Minister of Agriculture and President of the Canada Agri-Food Trade Alliance.

She is currently the Board Chair of the Global Institute for Food Security at the University of Saskatchewan.

Koch and her husband Gerry Hertz farm at Edenwold, near Regina.

In her acceptance speech, she asked what better way to make a difference in the world than to champion the best people and the best industry, agriculture and farming.
