With less than a week to go until Municipalities of Saskatchewan decide on its president, current President Gordon Barnhart remains in Hawaii, where he is conducting business remotely.

International travel has not been deemed illegal during the pandemic, but it is strongly advised against by all levels of government, and requires a mandatory two week quarantine upon returning to Canada.

When asked about his trip, Barnhart said that travel was a safe option for him and his wife.

Roger Hayward, Vice President of Towns is Barnhart’s only opponent at this time.

However some backlash on the former Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan’s decision to travel has been reported, with Prince Albert’s Mayor quoted as saying the City was considering ending its membership with Muni-Sask.

The election will be held on Monday.
