Federal government provides support to grain and beef producers to expand world markets

The federal government is providing significant support to help Canadian grain and beef producers find new and alternate markets for their products.

The federal government is providing 13 million dollars for 11 grain industry projects to expand exports around the globe.

Another 8.3 million dollars will go to the beef industry to support exports to international markets.

APAS president Todd Lewis says the funds will be put to good use.

He says market diversification is important and the support is good news.

Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association CEO, Ryder Lee, says the funds will help the beef industry find new markets in Asia and other parts of the world.

Canadian grain and beef exports have faced some marketing difficulties in recent years, particularly with China after the arrest of a senior Chinese business executive in Vancouver.
