Tourism ad for Moose Jaw featuring mayor is a hit

It may not lead to any modelling contracts, but if it leads to some increased business in the tourism sector than Moose Jaw’s mayor has accomplished what he wanted.

The city put out a tourism ad this week that features Tolmie, who is clad in a bathrobe while lounging at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, telling politicians who faced the heat for getting out of the country for warmer destinations at Christmas to come to Moose Jaw as they have it all and they won’t tell.

Tolmie says early reaction has been very positive and that it has been seen by many eyes outside Saskatchewan.

“I have been talking with some city staff and they say there has been nothing but positives.  We have heard from Ontario and other places in Canada Mexico, the United States and the United Kingdom.” Tolmie said. “We are getting good feedback and while it is a sensitive suhject it has been a lot of fun.”

Tolmie, who says he lost 12 pounds before filming so he looked alright, adds doing things like this is something he embraces because it means marketing his community,

“My job is to promote Moose Jaw and while everyone is focusssed on where they are and not where we are going which is what I want to do” Tolmie said. “If people want to come to the city of Moose Jaw once the pandemic is over or its safe to travel, they are more than welcome to come here.  We have great shops, great amenities and that Moose Jaw is a place to visit.”
