Moe looking to address COVID-19 vaccine shortages in First Ministers’ meeting

Premier Scott Moe will be asking for clarity when it comes to shipments of COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna during a First Ministers’ meeting Thursday.

According to an emailed statement, the province has no confirmation of shipments from Pfizer past the end of February and there’s no confirmation of Moderna shipments at all at this point.

Moe referenced an increase in pace for deliveries to other countries, including the United States, saying the federal government should be negotiating for a similar increase for Canada.

Earlier this morning, Moderna confirmed they will be reducing their next COVID-19 vaccine shipment to Canada, but were unable to confirm how much of an impact that will be. Moe says this level of unclarity makes it difficult to plan the vaccine rollout.
