90 COVID-19 cases connected to active outbreak at Yorkton Regional Health Centre

The ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre has 90 cases linked to it as of Wednesday.

Janna-Lea Yawney, interim director of acute care for the Yorkton area, says the outbreaks remain in the same areas including inpatient medical units in first floor east and west wings, along with the ICU. Suspected outbreaks are in second floor Obstetrics and second floor south pediatrics and medicine units in the facility.

However Yawney says there is good news regarding the suspected outbreaks.

“I believe they should be coming off suspect outbreaks soon because there has not been any further cases that should be in those units,” she explained.

Of the 90 cases, 14 are patients including four in ICU, 32 health care staff and six visitors, while 38 are secondary.
