Regina police introduced a new trainee police dog today.
Gator is the dog’s name and he’ll be undergoing 16-to-18 weeks of basic training to learn the functions of a police dog.
There, he and his human police officer will need to qualify for the Saskatchewan Provincial Standard for Police Dogs each and every year.
Gator is just three and a half months old now, but when he’s fully trained, he can work for five to seven years with two one year extensions possible.
