Prince Albert pulp mill prepping to restart

Getting the Prince Albert Pulp Mill up and running again is the focus of $600 thousand worth of engineering and consulting work being paid for by Paper Excellence Canada. Paper Excellence purchased the mill in 2011. It now wants to restart the facility as soon as possible once the current non-compete agreement with the former owner expires in March.

There is some equipment that must be replaced but the company says it will simplify construction and minimize commissioning risks. Carlo Dal Monte, Vice President, Energy & Business Development says, “Once we are up and running, we will also realize a significant improvement in product quality, operating costs and environmental performance compared to the mill that was shut down in 2006.”

The company foresees a staff of 200 people, creating over $300 million per year in economic benefit for Prince Albert and the province.
