Saskatchewan getting ready for refugees

The Sask Party government says its willing to take in as many Ukrainian refugees, as Ottawa is willing to re-settle in the province.

Saskatchewan’s immigration minister, Jeremy Harrison, says Saskatchewan should be the destination of choice for refugees from Ukraine.

Saskatchewan has a large population of Ukrainians, who make up 13 percent of the total number of people in Saskatchewan.

The provincial government is setting aside $335,000 in settlement supports for Ukrainian families displaced by the ongoing invasion by Russia.

Saskatchewan has one of the largest Ukrainian populations in Canada, with 13 per cent of residents identifying with the heritage.
