Regina police charge 27-year-old man following stolen vehicle incident

A 27-year-old man from Regina has been charged after an incident involving a stolen vehicle early in the week.

On Wednesday evening, Regina police found two men standing near a vehicle that was reported stolen in a parking lot on the 700 block of Albert Street.

Officers managed to stop one of the individuals on foot, but the other man jumped in the driver seat of the vehicle and drove away. Police then determined the man they initially stopped was not involved in the theft and he was released.

Police later discovered the vehicle abandoned in the middle of 6th Avenue between Angus Street and Rae Street. That’s when the canine team was called in and eventually found 27-year-old Geoffrey Worm.

He faces the following offences:

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
• Impaired operation of a conveyance;
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000;
• Obstruct peace officer;
• Fail to comply with probation order; and
• Fail to comply with recognizance.

He made his first court appearance Wednesday morning in Regina.
