New food choices ahead of Blue Jays home opener

Baseball season is upon us once again and Toronto Blue Jays fans have been waiting for a long time for April 8th. The Seattle Mariners will help the Blue Jays open up their season on home turf at Rogers Centre. The ballpark has undergone millions of dollars in renovations over the past two years including most recently, upgrades to the 100 level at the stadium. New seats with better airflow were added, there’s more leg room, and cup holders have also been installed. In total, 29.5 million pounds of material was removed and recycled to make more room for those in section 100. This comes on the heels of a massive renovation in 2022/23 on the outfield district.

Not just renovations happened in the off season either. New food items were added to menus around the ballpark that may raise eyebrows and make mouths water. Here are a few of the new items:

  1. Hot maple bacon hot dog
  2. Mediterranean hot dog which includes shawarma beef and tzatziki sauce
  3. Jamaican patties filled with jerk chicken, coleslaw, and bbq sauce
  4. Macaroni and Cheese with jerk chicken or brisket added
  5. French fries with parmesan cheese (also call snow fries)
  6. The crush float with a big a blob of ice cream on top.

Loonie dog nights will also return to Rogers place where fans can purchase hot dogs for $1 at various concessions Tuesday evenings around the park courtesy of Schneider’s. Last year they sold 693,865 hot dogs on loonie dog night!

For those who like to collect bobbleheads, the Blue Jays will be giving numerous figurines throughout the season including Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Yusei Kikuchi, Bo Bichette, and Kevin Gausman, among others. They’re even planning a picklefest night which will include a pickle tote bag and pickle themed activities.
