The Saskatchewan Roughriders have officially signed Shaq Evans to a one-year contract extension.

The news comes as the signing was rumored to have taken place earlier Friday.

Evans had a stellar 2019 season, hauling in 72 catches for 1,334 yards and five touchdowns. He was seen as starting quarterback Cody Fajardo’s favorite target down the stretch in his first year as the starter.

In the 2019 West final, Evans registered four catches for 41 yards.

Evans was set to become a free agent on Tuesday.
