Cougars Belmore and Misskey named Canada West All-Stars

 

Two members of the University of Regina Cougars Women’s Basketball team were named Canada West all-stars on Friday.

Jade Belmore was named a Canada West first-team all-star while Cara Misskey was named a second-team all-star.

This season Belmore finished fourth in scoring in the conference with 19.2 points per game. She was able to top the 30-point mark twice this season including a career high 33 points against Lethbridge on January 28. Belmore also had a triple-double in the Cougars win against the University of Saskatchewan on Nov.12

Misskey averaged 14.8 points and 5.5 assists per game. She scored a career-high of 28 points on a pair of occasions this season. She was able to make the second all-star team despite the three final conference games due to injury.

17 different Cougar players have received 30 all-star selections over the last 21 years. Belmore was a third-team all-star last season and becomes the ninth different Cougar player to receiver multiple all-star selections.
