Some more good economic news coming from Statistics Canada.

The national unemployment rate dipped from 6.5 percent in January, to 5.5 percent in February.

In Saskatchewan, the unemployment rate stayed below the national average, dropping to 4.7 percent, second only to  Quebec.

As for the two largest cities in Saskatchewan, Saskatoon’s unemployment rate went up slightly, from 4.8 to 5.2 percent.

Regina was down slightly from 5.4 to 5.3 percent.

The provincial government is pointing to record off reserve aboriginal employment in Saskatchewan, which hit 57,700 jobs in February, with the vast majority being full time jobs.

Saskatchewan’s youth unemployment rate is also the lowest in the country, at 5.9 percent.
