Saskatchewan is home to countless inspiring people who represent our province with pride, dignity, and honour. In 1985, The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was established to celebrate excellence and achievements of Saskatchewanians and since that that year, over 260 people have been honoured with the medal.
It always means so much more when you know one of the recipients and know how deserving they are of the honour. Brynn Boback-Lane is one of the recipients that we know very well at 620 CKRM thanks to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon that Harvard Media has been involved with from the start. Boback-Lane is the President and CEO of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and always made time for an interview about the radiothon, what’s new at the hospital, and what amazing services and medical technology the facility uses. She’s held the position of President and CEO since 1999 and was instrumental in the construction of Saskatchewan’s first children’s hospital in Saskatoon.
Besides Boback-Lane, there are nine other very deserving medal recipients this year. Here’s the list of these incredible individuals from across the province:
- Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, Saskatoon
- Brynn Boback-Lane, Saskatoon
- Floyd Favel, Paynton
- Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos, Regina
- Renu Kapoor, S.V.M., Regina
- Curtis Kleisinger, Regina
- Brad Wall, Cypress Hills
- Colonel (Ret’d) Malcolm Young C.D., Saskatoon
- Greg Yuel, Saskatoon
- Olivia Yuel, Saskatoon
The ceremony will take place in Regina on June 19th with Lieutenant-Governor Russ Mirasty presenting the medals. The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was recognized by the Federal Government in 1991, which means the medal can be worn on national occasions.
