Hospitals of Regina Foundation Home Lottery 2024 winners get their prizes

The Hospitals of Regina Foundation Home Lottery handed out their top prizes Friday morning at their showhome in The Creeks.

President and CEO Dino Sophocleous says the $1.7 million raised will go towards a $7.5 million commitment made this year to the Regina hospitals that will go to pediatric programs, the cardiac centre, and supporting medical fellowships.

“It always takes a few million dollars every year,” Sohocleous said. “I believe the $7.5 million we committed this year is the largest annual commitment we have made, certainly in the last 10 years.

“We’re very pleased with the result of this lottery, and we’re very pleased with the support from this community,” he added.

Gaylene Drew of Regina won the early bird prize and had the choice between a six-week European trip or $100,000 in cash. She says she has supported this lottery for a number of years.

“It’s a lottery I’ve always liked to support, with no big expectations but always hopeful to win,” Drew said. It’s wonderful.”

A Humboldt-area farmer has won this year’s grand prize showhome.

Delwyn Jansen received the key to his brand new $1.4 million showhome, along with $50,000 in cash.

He says it didn’t feel real when he heard he had won.

“When I first heard, I thought somebody was scamming me with something, but when my friend phoned me and it was on TV, this had to be it,” Jansen said. I started believing people.”

HRF says this year’s lottery was the most successful they’ve had post-pandemic. This year was a sold-out lottery.
