The Regina Open Door Society doesn’t know exactly when refugees will start coming in from the conflict in Ukraine, but they do know Regina will be a welcoming and inclusive community.
The United Nations Refugee Service estimated that as of Sunday, about 2.5 million people have left war-torn Ukraine.
Victoria Flores, Communications Director with the Regina Open Door says they don’t have an exact timeline of when the refugees will begin arriving. She noted the only information that has been provided so far has been the information released by the federal and provincial governments.
Flores is confident the queen city will be there to provide a helping hand when the refugees begin to arrive. Flores added the Open Door Society will do a callout to a community if needed.
