Premier Scott Moe outlines municipal revenue sharing in 2022

Premier Scott Moe says more than 262 million dollars will be provided to Municipal Revenue Sharing in the coming year to Saskatchewan municipalities.

Moe says the average provincial funding for the previous 5 years is more than 260 million dollars.

The annual funding is based on three quarters of one point of the provincial sales tax revenue collected from two years ago.

The premier says the targeted sector support initiative will receive a 1.5 million dollar investment from the total municipal revenue sharing program.

The initiative invests in municipal projects advancing priority areas like good governance, regional planning and inter-community collaboration.

Moe spoke at the SARM annual meeting Wednesday.

He says the provincial budget will expand commitments to improve health care, highways and infrastructure.

The premier promised efforts to reduce hospital wait times and improve rural health care retention efforts.
