Former Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart has successfully battled a second round with cancer and will seek re-election next year.
The Pense area farmer resigned from cabinet last summer but remained an MLA to battle colorectal cancer.
Stewart says he has finished chemotherapy and feels good. He says it was a tough battle. “I lost 40 pounds and was very weak for most of the winter following surgery on December 6th. There was some complications and setbacks, but that’s all behind me now I hope. I finished my last chemo about a month ago and I’m feeling better everyday and feeling very good.”
Stewart says will be seeking a sixth term in office. “I enjoy the work, I’m very pleased with the group we have in caucus these days and perhaps I still have something to contribute.”
He was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 1999.
