You Talking To Me?

Ever get the feeling you’re living a double life? You’re not alone. According to a recent survey, a striking 46% of Gen Z’ers confess that social media has them juggling between their online and offline personas. Originally designed to help us share our lives with friends and family, social media has morphed into something far more complex. It’s now a stage where we curate and present a version of ourselves that may not be entirely true to reality.

Overall, 27% of people felt that way, but younger adults were more likely to admit to it than older people.

38% of Millennials say they have separate online and offline personas, along with 18% of Gen X’ers and 8% of Boomers.

The survey also found that 20% of people admit that they’re keeping their online persona a secret from one or more family members.  And 40% of people say that it’s easier to express their true selves online, than in real life.

I’ve seen this a lot. Running into somebody, I have know on the internet for awhile is weird, because they are more demur in person than their aggressive personality on line. What have we created?
