Environment Canada says the bitterly cold weather in southern Saskatchewan will take a break next week.

Meteorologist Terri Lang says temperatures by mid-week next week should be above normal.

In the meantime, cold Arctic air is hovering over the province.

Lang says the jet stream is changing its position and temperatures should be above normal next week.

She says the mild weather should continue for at least a week.

But the long range forecast for the winter remains colder than normal and above average snowfall.
