Faith, Football, and Art: George Canyon joins Good Morning Saskatchewan (Audio)

Country singer George Canyon will be in Regina Saturday evening (June 8th) for a performance at “Come Together” at Mosaic Stadium. Canyon rocketed to fame in Canada when he placed second in the 2004 season of Nashville Star and since that time has released many singles to country radio and garnered seven CCMA awards and two Juno’s.

Not only has faith been important in Canyon’s life, but so has art, which he’s recently taken up thanks to encouragement from his wife.

“I started painting portraitures of animals and people and things that mean something to me,” explained Canyon.

Over the past few years, Canyon has ran in politics in his home province of Nova Scotia, toured extensively, released a book, took up art, and he still finds time to ranch in Alberta, south of Calgary.

“we’ve got claves on the ground and more to come. Just having a blast, Smiled Canyon. “We ended up having to downside out herd, so we’ve only got 40, so we don’t have many to go now at all. With the price of hay we’ve had to downsize pretty big.”
