Alexander Suzdalev scored the 55 seconds into overtime to give the Regina Pats 6-5 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday. With the victory, the Pats winning streak has now reached six games.

Connor Bedard scored his 59th goal of the season and added three assists. Stanislav Svozil also had a goal and three assist performance.

Borya Valis had a pair goals and Riley Ginnell round out the scoring for the Pats.

Kelton Pyne had 35 saves in the victory as Red Deer held a 40-20 shot advantage.

Heading into the third period, the game was tied at 3-3. Following Regina successfully killing off a four-minute powerplay, they were able to gain the lead after a pair of goals by Valis. Red Deer was able to tie the game at 5-5 to send it to overtime.

After the game, Valis said the team is satisfied, but they aren’t finished yet.

“Everyone’s got a big smile on their face but it’s not over yet, we still have a lot of hockey yet to play.”

With the win, Regina’s record improved to 31-24-2-1, 65 points. They trail the Lethbridge Hurricanes by five points for fifth spot in the Eastern Conference, the Pats hold a two-game advantage over the Hurricanes

On Sunday, the Pats will look to finish off the weekend with win over the Saskatoon Blades. Valis said the Pats have to dig deep against the Blades.

“We need to play as a team, we need to bring the energy.”
