Moe watching developments in teachers dispute carefully

What do Saskatchewan’s teachers have up their sleeve when it comes to possible job action

A sanctions vote was taken this week by the province’s 13,000 teachers with Saskatchewan Teachers Federation president Patrick Maze saying there was close to 100 percent who voted. That being said, results have not been released nor has what the next step will be.

Premier Scott Moe says the government has never felt comfortable that this was the time for the federation to go to the teachers and ask for a strike vote, which would take them out of the classrooms and put them on the picket line.

“We don’t agree that this is the way the STF should be moving forward.” Moe said. “We would ask they come back to the bargaining table so we can find a resolution and ensure our teachers stay in the classroom.”

Salaries and class size are two of the main issues.
