This week’s hot weather has affected some crops in the Regina-Moose Jaw area.

Provincial crops analyst in Moose Jaw, Brent Flaten, says some wheat crops show signs of burning on the top of the heads of wheat plants.

He says timely moisture is important for crop development and to avoid heat stress.

He says some canola crops are patchy because of late germination.

Flaten is hoping for a delayed fall frost to avoid damage to late maturing fields.

He says some crops are as much as two weeks behind normal development because of late germination due to drought.
