After another hot and humid day, more severe weather rolled across Saskatchewan Wednesday night.

Tornado Warnings were issued north of Regina and south of Saskatoon, but no touchdowns were confirmed.

In Regina, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued that did bring some heavy rain and strong winds to parts of the city.

Environment Canada’s Jason Knight said the main portion of the storm just missed to the south.

“We did get a wind gust of about 87 kilometers an hour at the airport, which is pretty close to severe criteria, the big cell itself just brushed up against the city and was much larger to the south,” Knight said.

Knight says golf ball sized hail was also reported both north and west of Regina.

“We had quite a few reports of hail actually, both west and north of Regina, up to the size of golf balls,” Knight added.

No severe thunderstorms are in the forecast for Regina on Thursday, however wind gusts up to 70 kilometers an hour are expected in the afternoon.

Knight said we’re likely to see more severe weather activity on Saturday.
