COVID numbers edging higher again in weekly report

COVID numbers in the province are tracking slightly upward in this week’s provincial COVID report.

The number of deaths moved from 28 to 33 in the previous week, with 306 people in hospital this week compared to 299 last week.

Fourteen of the deaths occurred in the previous week, with 19 occurring in previous weeks but reported this week. The province said death rates should be interpreted with caution because of small numbers.

Of those who died, one person was between the ages of 20 to 39, four were between the ages of 40-59, one was in their 60s and five were in their 70s. The remaining 22 were 80 and over.

Nine of the deaths were in the Saskatoon region, with seven more in the central east.

There was little change in the number of adults in ICU with 19 this week compared to 18 last week.

The number of new laboratory-confirmed cases moved up slightly as well from 832 in the previous week, to 895.

The numbers are based on the week of March 13th to 19th.
